A 35-year-old mother, Joy Obi, two of her siblings of 17 months and nine years old were among 12 victims of human trafficking apprehended in Katsina.

The state Comptroller, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mohammed Alfa, told newsmen that the victims were picked on their way to Maimujiya en route Libya through Niger Republic.

He said the victims, four male and eight female from Edo and Delta states, were misled by their traffickers for greener pastures abroad.

He said the traffickers are on the run but efforts are ongoing to fish them out, adding that the driver of the aborted mission ran away when they were apprehended.

“His father and relations have been reached and have promised to bring him in as we hunt the other syndicate members who we learnt are based in Kano,” he added.

He gave the names of those apprehended as Peter Enerine, Jasper James, Lucky Odion, Ejiro Ereghare, Precious Christopher, Glory Igbinadour, Faith Sazuwa, Joy Makulu and Oghogho Kelly.
