15 Suspected Cultists Arrested In Edo State

The Edo State command of the Nigerian Police Force has apprehended 27 persons, suspected to be cultists responsible for the death of about 15 people across the state in over a month of rival cult clashes.

Vanguard reports that the suspects were rounded up by 11 am by detectives around Upper Mission area of Benin-City.

Reports have it that over 30 people have lost their lives in the course of violent clashes between the Eiye and Aye cult groups in the state.

Police Commissioner, Mr Foluso Adebanjo in reaction to the clashes has directed detectives across the state to burst suspected cultists.

The detectives stormed a house in Upper Mission area where the suspected cultists were having a meeting, with cache arms and other dangerous weapons recovered during the raid.

An unnamed source at the Edo police headquarters confirmed the incident saying: “We don’t want to react yet because we are still rounding them up. Many will still be arrested”.
