The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Wednesday, April 21, 2015 announced that it has arrested three National Youth Service Corps, NYSC members over allegations of selling ballot papers and other sensitive materials in Edo State.

Mr. Mike Igini, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, disclosed this in Benin while reviewing the conduct of the election. He said the suspects sold two packets of ballot papers for N40,000.

Besides, he said two staff of the commission who could not account for election materials given to them were suspended, adding that investigations had commenced to determine the culpability of the duo.

“The ongoing investigation is to determine whether their act was deliberate or out of sheer negligence. With respect to the NYSC members, they were given ballot papers of which they sold two packets and were nabbed,” Igini said.
