Amnesty Int’l Says Israel Committed War Crimes in Gaza War

Must read

A resolute human rights group, Amnesty International has accused Israel of committing war crimes in Gaza during this summer.

Amnesty International argued that Israel displayed “callous indifference” in discreet attacks on family homes in the densely nucleated settlement in the coastal strip that in some cases amounted to war crimes.

The criticism came in a report released Wednesday, November 5, 2014.

According to Amnesty International, the 50-day war killed more than 2,100 Palestinians, most of them women and children, and 72 people on the Israeli side, which includes 66 soldiers and 6 civilians.

Israel’s Gaza war erupted after increased rocket attacks by Gaza’s Islamic militant Hamas rulers. Israel also apprehended scores of Hamas activists in the West Bank, following the abduction and murder of three Israel teens by the militants.

However, foreign ministry rejected the Amnesty International report’s findings, saying Amnesty “ignores documented war crimes perpetrated by Hamas.”

He cited that the organization fails to recognized the pre-empted aim of Gaza as they chose a venerable location to launch their attack on Israel which is against the rules of engagement
