Army Lifts Ban On Vehicular Movement In Maiduguri

The Nigerian Army has lifted the ban it placed on vehicular movement in troubled Borno state capital town, Maiduguri,  to ward off the alleged planned attack of the Boko Haram insurgents during the Muslim festivities.

This was made known in a press release signed by the deputy director, Army public relations, 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maiduguri, Colonel Muhannad Dole on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 the army stated that the vehicles can start moving on the roads as from Wednesday morning.

A ban was placed on vehicular movement on Sunday, July 27, 2014 which caused untold hardship on the residents of the troubled town as they have to trek long distances.

The ban forced many residents to stay indoors, churches were empty on Sunday, and markets closed with residents making do with their little stock.
