3 Killed, Over 300 Vehicles Razed During Boko Haram Attack In Borno

No fewer than three persons were reportedly killed and some public buildings razed on Monday, October 27, 2014, when a  group of assailants believed to be members of the dreaded Boko Haram group  stormed  a renowned town in Borno State named  Kukawa.

It was learnt that the headquarters of Kukawa Local Government Area, a police station, government lodge,government clinics, private houses were some of the affected buildings razed during the attack. Also, vehicles belonging to the company exploring oil in the Chad Basin area were also razed during the attack.

According reports, a resident of the town,  Mallam Modu, who called to tell journalists in Maiduguri, said the insurgents stormed the town in several Hilux vehicles and motorcycles, where they attacked the police station with Rocket Propelled Grenade and guns.

He said, “The insurgents razed down the Kukawa Divisional Police station and some public buildings in the town.

“I cannot tell the casualty figure because we had to flee the town to save our lives.”

Also, another resident of the town, Modu Mohammed, recounted how the insurgents had laid siege to the town at about 4am and carried out their attacks till 10pm while some of the residents ran away from the attacks in order to avoid being victimized.

The Caretaker Chairman of Kukawa Local Government Area, Alhaji Modu Musa, who confirmed the incident disclosed that the insurgents invaded the town, killed a lot of people and burnt down some buildings including vehicles numbering above 300.
