A jealous boyfriend was arrested for allegedly pointing a gun at his girlfriend after he saw her breastfeeding their baby.
Police in Minnesota said the 28-year-old man, Nicholas George Lehmeier, from Cold Spring has also been accused by his girlfriend of subjecting her to years of domestic and physical abuse, addng that she never reported because he threatened the lives of her and her children.
The couple of over 10 years have five other children who were all removed from their custody last year and were therefore not in the home at the time of the incident that happened on the first day the couple was allowed to bring the baby into their home.
According to reports, Lehmeier came home on the fateful day and met his girlfriend breastfeeding the baby and accused her of paying less attention to him before he reached for a 12-gauge shotgun which he loaded and then fired at the woman and the child.
He has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon. According to the report, there is no information yet as to whether or not he was in legal possession of the firearms. He could spend up to seven years in prison if convicted.
Lehmeier had previously pleaded guilty to fifth degree assault after he was charged for maliciously punishing a seven-year-old child last year.
