Civilian JTF Kills 41 Boko Haram Members In Borno

A vigilance group popularly called Civilian JTF in Borno State village, Gur, have reportedly killed no fewer than 41 members of the violent Boko Haram sect on Friday, October 31, 2014.

Mala Yusuf, a member of the vigilance group, said that the vigilante group went after the insurgents after a failed attack on their community, Sabon Gari in Damboa Local Government Area of the state.  He said the insurgents were chase by combined team of soldiers and members of the vigilance group and 41 terrorist group members were killed.

Mala added that the vigilance group severed their neck and brought their heads to the town show to the people that the insurgents were no spirit and their activities could be contained.

Speaking further, he said “The vigilance group beheaded the insurgents after the shootout and took their heads to Biu to show the people that the Boko Haram insurgents are human and not beasts.

“People should not fear them, but to join hands with security operatives to ensure that the sect members are defeated.

“We heard that the insurgents went to attack Sabon Gari when people were returning to their homes after three months of exile as internally displaced persons in various camps across the state. We went after them to foil the planned attack.

“We were able to repel them at Gur. We engaged them in fierce battle with the soldiers and 41 of them were killed, one of them was taken alive,” he stated.
