Buhari Supporters Attack President Jonathan’s Campaign Team In Bauchi

President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign team was attacked in Bauchi on Thursday, January 22, 2015 came just two days after a similar incident happened in Katsina during the presidential campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

During the attack, hundreds of angry youths believed to be the All Progressives Congress, APC, supporters threw stones and satchet water sachets at President Jonathan’s convoy as they were on their way to the Emir’s palace in Bauchi to pay homage.

The president was in the convoy with vice President Namadi Sambo,  national chairman of the PDP, Dr. Ahmadu Adamu Mu’azu, minister of the Federal Capital Territory(FCT), senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, governor Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State, Godswill Akpabio of Akwa-Ibom state, governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe state, ministers and other top chieftains of the party.

Chanting “sai Buhari” as they waved their brooms, which is the APC logo,  some of the youths were heard calling President Jonathan “arna,” which means an ‘unbeliever’ in Hausa.

It took the combined efforts of security operatives to disperse the angry youths.

In another development along Ran road, some youths chanting “Sai Buhari” also disrupted business activities in the area as business owners ran for safety.

They also attacked the venue of the rally which was at the Ibrahim Babangida’s Square as they attacked the already-seated dignitaries with stones and other dangerous objects, destroying some of the canopies erected and plastic chairs arranged for the occasion.
