Former INEC Chairman Jega Resumes Lecturing In Bayero University, Kano

Barely one week after he left office following the end of his fiver-year tenure, the former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, on Monday, July 6, 2015 resumed duties as a lecturer at the Bayero University Kano (BUK.

Before his appointment as the INEC chairman in 2010, Jega was a lecturer in the department of Political Science in the same institution.

It was gathered from Vanguard that Jega paid a visit to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abubakar Adamu Rasheed who led him to his office which had been renovated beforehand.

The Director of Public Affairs of the institution, Mallam Ahmad Shehu said, “Professor Jega resumed today but he first went to the VC’s office. The VC accompanied him to his office and he was received by the Head of Department of political science with his colleagues.”

By virtue of his return to office, Jega is ranked as the 5th of former vice chancellors of the university who are still within the school.
