‘F*** It, I Quit’: News Reporter Makes Shocking Live On-Air Resignation [WATCH]

Must read

Now, here is a story that would most likely go viral and ignite conversation on the heated topic of marijuana use in the United State.

A TV reporter working with KTVA-TV in Anchorage, Alaska resigned while on-air live, uttering an obscenity before walking off the camera leaving her co-anchor confused.

Charlo Greene, pulled this stunt on Sunday, September 21, 2014 and was wrapping up a report on a marijuana group and its advocacy for legalizing the substance for medical reasons. In her carefully delivered on-air resignation, she revealed she was actually the head and founder of the pro-marijuana group which she had just covered in her report.

“Now everything you heard is why I, the actual owner of the Alaska Cannabis Club, will be dedicating all of my energy toward fighting for freedom and fairness which begins with legalizing marijuana here in Alaska,” Green said.

“And as for this job, well, not that I have a choice but, f**k it, I quit.”

Her co-anchor was totally confused, stumbling through an apology and a cut to commercial break, that did not happen. You may watch the clip below, and be warned that it has strong language.

The news station took to its social media pages to apologise and say that Greene had been terminated. But, social media commentors were quick to point out that she already quit the job before the station’s post.

“I’m Charlo Greene, the president and CEO of the Alaska Cannabis Club – Alaska’s only legal medical marijuana resource. I just quit my news reporting job on live TV to announce that I am redirecting all of my energy toward helping to end a failed drug policy that has ruined the lives of far too many Americans,” Greene wrote on a fundraising page.

“As a member of the media, I’ve seen the dirty campaign tricks and lies that prohibitionists have been using over the past several months to sway Alaskan voters firsthand,” she continued. “Here’s the sad thing: it’s working.”

The Alaska Dispatch News interviewed Greene about her decision to stage such a dramatic resignation.

“Because I wanted to draw attention to this issue,” she said. “And the issue is medical marijuana. Ballot Measure 2 is a way to make medical marijuana real… most patients didn’t know the state didn’t set up the framework to get patients their medicine.”

“If I offended anyone, I apologise, but I’m not sorry for the choice that I made,” she added.
