Governor Jang Suspends Plateau State Varsity Vice Chancellor

Must read

Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang On Thursday, October 30, 2014 suspended the Vice Chancellor of the Plateau State University – which was recently renamed Solomon Lar University – Professor Danjuma Sheni over allegations of “inappropriate behaviour.”

Punch reports that Sheni’s suspension might be in connection with the recent reappointment of Dadi Davou as the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the institution.
It is also gathered that Sheni has been in a power tussle with Professor Sam Ale, The varsity’s Pro Chancellor, who happens to be an in-law to Governor Jang over issues bothering on mismanagement of funds and interference with the school’s administration, peaking when a group of lecturers from the school petitioned anti-graft bodies over alleged shady contracts in the institution. The feud between both parties boiled over when Gvernor Jang as visitor to the school, directed the reappointment of Davou, allegedly without the consent of the Senate, leading to the filing of legal actions by some members of the senate against Davou’s appointment.
