JUST IN: ‘I’m proud to be gay’ – Apple CEO Tim Cook Announces He’s A Homosexual

Must read

Following years of speculation, Apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook announces he is gay on Thursday, October 30, 2014.

“Let me be clear: I’m proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me,” he wrote in a column in Bloomberg Businessweek

In the column, the Apple CEO said he decided to come out because his desire for ‘a basic level of privacy’ was stopping him from working for the benefit of others.

Cook has shied away from publicly discussing his sexual orientation and always ignored rumours and speculations on his being gay.

Last year, Cook announced support for a US federal law that would have protected workers from discrimination based on their sexual orientation.

“For too long, too many people have had to hide that part of their identity in the workplace,” he wrote in support of the law.
