Mobile Police Commander Shot Dead By Drunk Corporal In Bauchi

A drunk police corporal accidentally shot a Mobile Police commander in Bauchi State over a police uniform disagreement.

The late commander, Superintendent Chris Eza, a former Aide-de-Camp to Delta State governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, was in charge of the Mopol 10 Unit in Bauchi before he was shot dead.

The tragic incident which occured on Thursday, February 26, 2015, has the state police command into mourning and sadness.

According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ha­runa Mohammed, the deceased was on a routine visit to a checkpoint on Ahmadu Bello Way, when he spotted the corporal who had been demobilized from the mobile force and had no reason to be wearing the uniform.

The commander was said to have approached him and told he should not be wearing the mopol uniform since he was no longer with the force.

The corporal was said to have responded in an insulting manner and the commander asked the other officer around to arrest him that was when the corporal corked his gun and emptied the bullets on Eza before fleeing the scene.

Eza was rushed to Abuba­kar Tafawa Balewa Uni­versity Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
