Nigeria Immigration Service Repartriates 430 Illegal Immigrants, Confiscates 20 Voter Cards

The Comptroller of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Mr Isa Jere on Saturday, December 20, 2014 revealed that the service arrested and repatriated 430 illegal immigrants in Jigawa state between January and November 2014.

He made the disclosure in Dutse, the state capital, while parading seven Nigerians and one Malian illegal immigrant, according to PM News.

A greater percentage of the arrested immigrants were from Niger Republic while the rest were citizens of Cameroun, Chad and Mali.

The NIS boss maintained that the service is bent on doing everything possible in order to end the scourge of illegal immigrants before the general elections in February 2015.

“We are committed to repatriating illegal immigrants in our midst because they don’t have right or have any business to participate in our elections” he said.

Meanwhile, in their bid to ensure a free and fair election without the participation of foreigners the state’s command had seized 20 voters’ cards from Nigerian immigrants out of wich 11 were permanent voters cards.
