NYSC Not Scrapped, New Batch To Be Called Up Soon – Management

Must read

The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has said that prospective corps members should be patient over the delay in releasing funds by the federal government which has, consequently, led to a setback in mobilising them for their orientation camp.

The 2016 batch A, stream II orientation course which was scheduled to commence two weeks ago was postponed due to lack of funds leading to protests by young graduates and sparking rumours that President Muhammadu Buhari had scrapped the programme to reduce government cost.

In statement issued on Saturday, June 4, 2016 the management of the NYSC asked prospective corps members to be on stand-by to honour their call-up for the three weeks orientation course.

“Based on the assurance received from the federal government regarding release of funds, the 2016 Batch ‘A’ (Stream II) orientation course will commence soon,” the statement read.

“Prospective corps members were however assured that a new date will be out as soon as the NYSC sorts out necessary logistics.

“Prospective Corps members are, therefore, requested to watch out for specific date for commencement of the exercise, which will be announced as soon as all necessary logistics are put in place.

“Management empathizes with the affected prospective corps members, and appeals for continued patience even as all efforts on the matter are fast yielding results.”
