#RIP: Oronto Douglas Laid To Final Rest With President Jonathan In Attendance (PHOTOS)

Environmental activist and  Presidential adviser Oronto Douglas has been laid in his hometown, Okoroba in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State on April 2, 2015.

Attending his funeral service held at St. Peters Anglican Church in Yenagoa, Bayelsa’s State capital were President Goodluck Jonathan, Mrs. Tarinabo Lovelyn Douglas and children, Bayelsa Governor Seriake Dickson and wife, Chief of Army Staff, General Minima, Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, DCOS Abubakar, Agiobenebo, PSP Tukur, FCT Minister Bala Mohammed, former EFCC Chairman Nuhu Ribadu, and others attended the burial.

The funeral service had moving moments and President Jonathan gave a moving speech. The tear breaking moment was when the children of a nursery school founded by the late Oronto Douglas gave a singing tribute to their school’s founder and benefactor.

E.K.Clark Preparatory School in Okoroba was founded by Oronto Douglas and it is a free school for all the children in the community. Douglas was the sole financier of the school. Governor Dickson promised to continue the good work of Douglas by funding the school.
