BIZARRE: Police Arrest GOAT For Grazing In Garden

Must read

A goat has been arrested alongside its owner by police officials in central India for repeatedly damaging a senior bureaucrat’s garden.

Police in Chhattisgarh state sprang into action on Monday, February 8, 2016 registering a case against the man and his animal for chewing up the district magistrate’s garden.

Although the goat and the owner have been released on bail, they were made to face initial charges of causing mischief and damage to property.

A local officer Ram Sewak Paikra from Janakpur town in Korea district disclosed this to AFP on Tuesday, February 9, 2016.

He said: “The goat and the owner were under police custody and are out, as both the sections 427 and 447 of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) are bailable offences.”

According to him, the goat was allegedly a “repeat offender” in Janakpur town, some 340 kilometres (211 miles) north of state capital Raipur.

Local media were running video footage of the offending — and now tethered — black goat. Rajesh Paikra, the official’s gardener, herded the captured goat to the local police station on Monday, demanding action.

Paikra said: “After the complaint, the owner of the goat, Abdul Hasan, was also arrested for the alleged crime.

“Since both the sections are bailable offences, Abdul Hasan filed a bond in the police station promising that the animal will not further damage the garden.”
