RACISM In Football: Yaya Toure’s Agent Says He Has Never Won Any Top Honours Because He Is BLACK

Must read

Yaya Toure’s agent believes the Manchester City man has never won any of football’s top individual honours because he is black.

The Ivorian played an instrumental role in City regaining the Premier League title, plundering an impressive 20 goals for Manuel Pellegrini’s men.

However, when it came to the end-of-season awards, Toure was overlooked and finished in third place in the PFA and FWA gongs – while he was 12th in the Ballon d’Or voting.

Luis Suarez beat him to both English awards, while Eden Hazard and Steven Gerrard pipped him to second respectively.

And Dmirtri Seluk believes his client would have finished higher, if he was white.

He told the Times: “If he was white, 100 percent he would have won one of those top awards.

“I don’t want to talk too much about racism or the politics of football, but he does not get the praise he should get. Yaya has three times in a row won the African Player of the Year, but it is different with the other awards.

“I agree with Jose Mourinho when he said that the Player of the Year should come from the team that wins the title. Who was the best team? Manchester City. Who was their best player? Toure.”

Seluk’s latest comments come as uncertainty grows over Toure’s future at the Etihad.

Recent claims suggested the midfielder would do anything he can to quit the club but City remain unmoved and are adamant they won’t sell.
