Rivers Rerun: Soldiers Unleash Violence On Voters As PDP Set For Landslide Victory [GRAPHIC PHOTOS]

Must read

Rivers State, once again, on Saturday, February 25, 2017 witnessed the display of brute assault on democracy by the All Progressives Congress federal government as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, conducted legislative rerun elections in Etche Local Government Area.

At about 3pm a team of Nigerian soldiers invaded collation centres across the violence prone local government area with a view of stopping the announcement of the results of the supplementary elections.

The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has obtained a landslide victory in the poll before the state induced violence was unleashed on electoral official and the electorate.

“Pandemonium broke out when the soldiers began shooting and beating up anybody they could lay their hands on,” Desmond White, a voter in Ward 14 told The Trent’s reporter. “The people are resisting the soldiers, as I speak.”

The purpose of the military violence is to overturn the results of the poll, illegally, in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. The evidence of PDP’s victory is contained in the photos of the result sheets of polling units in the photo gallery at the end of this article.

“Mr. Onwuka, a stalwart of the PDP in Etche Ward is missing. Soldiers invaded his home and took him to an unknown destination,” another official, who gave his name as Dr. Daz, said.

“We will resist the ongoing efforts to undermine the will and mandate of Rivers people,” he continued. “There must be an end to this madness.”
