Spirit And Life Devotional: Let’s Judge Ourselves

Must read

I Corinthians 5:9-11 NKJV “I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner— not even to eat with such a person.”

Okay, so if we were to do strictly the words above, how many of us would be left in church? I think only a few. Quite unfortunate.

God wants us to live right in this world. Sadly, many of us Christians cannot be distinguished from unbelievers, the only difference seems to be that we go to church and read Christian materials. We are not only sexually immoral, we are actually living together with people we aren’t married to; we commit all kinds of sins, Mondays to even Sundays, and we still go to church and lift up “unholy” (certainly not holy) hands to God! No; it’s unacceptable!

We must decide now to either live right or to just continue in sin because the truth be told that God is not mocked! He knows those who are His, and He has said that all who mention His name should depart from iniquity. I Corinthians 11:31 says, “For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged.” Let’s judge ourselves today, and decide on what we really want, decide on who we really are, and decide on where we really want to spend eternity.
