Tragedy in Jos, Plateau State capital on Saturday, April 2, 2015 after a woman, her three children, a relative and nanny were all roasted  to death in a fire inferno that rocked their house.

Residents in the area where the tragic incident occurred said the deceased woman called for help when the fire started but they could not go in to assist because of the strong iron bars used as protectors.

It was learnt that the gas in the building exploded while they tried to maneuver, which incidentally led to the fatality.

The Trent learnt that the husband to the deceased went out on an official assignment before the tragedy struck.

Speaking after the incident, a neighbour to the deceased said, “We had the shout of the woman saying come and help me, come and help me!. All of us ran out to see what we can do to help.

“In the process, any iron you touch will shock one so we quickly alerted the authorities, cut the cable line that supplied light to the house. In the process of going up, the gas cylinder exploded.

“In that case, we had nothing to do rather than to run and call the fire service.”
