Must read

According to the Nigerian Army, troops of operation, Lafia Dole, has killed two senior commanders of insurgent group, Boko Haram and several other rebel groups at Daru Jamel on the edges of Sambisa Forest in Borno.

The terrorists stormed the troops’ location at 10pm on Monday, August 22, 2016, but failed.

A statement e-mailed to The Trent on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 by Sani Usman, spokesperson of the Nigerian Army says that troops repelled an attack on their location by the terrorist group, killing their commanders in the process.

“The terrorists attempted to storm the troops’ location, but paid dearly,” Colonel Usman said.

“Prior to the attack, the troops of the same unit on routine patrol earlier, cleared an ambush staged by elements of the suspected remnants of the terrorists desperate for food, near Banki Junction.‬

‪”It is equally believed that the attack and ambush might not be unconnected to the fact that the terrorists were desperately targeting over 890 rescued herdsmen with their 5000 livestock being held captives by terrorists along Nigeria’s borders with Cameroon.”

The troops recovered one Light Machine Gun, LMG, with registration number 56M-1101229, a Rocket Propelled Grenade, RPG bomb, an AK-47 rifle magazine and a top cover of an AK-47 rifle.

15 rounds of 5.5mm by 45 ammunition and 395 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition were also recovered.
