Vigilante Fires Gunshots At Governor Amosun’s Convoy In Ogun

An Ogun State vigilante group member on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 fired gunshots at the motorcade of Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun around Agbado area of Ifo Local Government Area of the state.

Punch reports that Governor Amosun, who was in company if his aides were on a campaign tour of the area when the shooting started at about 10 pm.

The vigilante outfit, according to reports, was part of of the security team on ground for the governor’s visit.

The unnamed vigilante member reportedly shot at a white Toyota Coaster bus with registration number Ogun 12 OGGH and had commissioners and Governor Amosun’s special assistants on board, with the bullet creating a hole directly where the Commissioner for Forestry, Adebayo Faari, was seated.

No one was injured, although the officials were said to have been roughened up.

The situation was finally brought to order by security details attached to the convoy who stripped the vigilante members of their rifles.

Ogun State Vigilante Service Public Relations Officer, Soji Ganzalo, confirmed the incident but stated that the shooting happened when a security operative attached to the motorcade alighted from his vehicle and attempted to disarm the vigilante members.

On his part, the Ogun State police spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi said he had not been informed of the incident.
