A woman dragged her husband to a court and asked for a protection order after he abused her both verbally and physically because she demanded for sex during a Bible study.
Police in Zimbabwe disclosed that the 51-year-old woman, Concilia Ndlovu, from Bulawayo, received the beating she never expected.
Ndlovu told the court that her husband was reading the Bible, when she asked him to turn off the lights. He refused and turned violent.
Her 55-year-old husband, Clement Ndlovu, admitted to beating his wife with a knobkerrie, but claimed that his wife instigated the fight after she turned off the lights with which he was reading the Bible and further threw herself at him because she wanted him to have sex with her, but he wanted to continue reading the Bible.
He said: “My intention was not to assault her, but to scare her away so that she stops disturbing me from reading the Bible.”
In his ruling, the magistrate ordered Mr Ndlovu not to verbally or physically abuse his wife, and she ordered the couple to go for counseling.
