After attempting to cut off her husband’s manhood with a pair of scissors, 72-year-old, Virginia Valdez, has been pardoned from being jailed but received a probation that lasts up to three years’ with a community service of 429 hours.
Her 62-year-old husband, Cesar Valdez who spoke up for the first time since the attack in 2011 said that domestic violence are often associated with women but noted that men could also be victims of domestic violence.
Valdez said, “I am here in front of you today to emphasize that male spouses can also be victims of domestic violence, but in some cases, men are afraid to talk for fear of ridicule or for fear of being labeled as some sort of freak or a wimp.”
The incident reportedly happened when the couple, who had been married for 32 years, were trying to get intimate in bed despite the fact that they were going through a divorce process.
The woman told her husband that she was going to brush her teeth only to return with a pair of scissors with which she committed the act that landed the unsuspecting man in a hospital.

According to ABC7, attorney Gloria Allred, who represented Mr Valdez, held up a pair of scissors during the trial.
She said, “There was a lot of blood coming out of his penis as a result of her attack on him.”
“He feels that if he had been a woman victim of domestic violence that the case would not have been permitted to be delayed for so long and that the punishment for Virginia would have been harshert.”
Even though the criminal trial is over, the two ex-spouses are still involved in a civil litigation battle as they are currently suing each other.
