A renowned preacher popularly referred to as ‘the guru in bling’ has allegedly tricked about 400 men to cut off their genitals in order to have themselves closer to God.
The overseer of the socio-spiritual organisation Dera Sacha Sauda, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who is a film star has an estimated net worth of $40 (£26) million and has 50 million followers worldwide.
Funny enough, he was able to get through with it as men numbering up to 400 men had to severe their private parts after listening to him.
The procedures, which witnesses say were conducted at a hospital owned by Singh, took place around the year 2000 but are coming to light because those involved are speaking out for the first time, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.
The controversial preacher has been previously faced with charges of conspiracy in the murder of an investigative journalist in 2002.
Several cases of sexual assault of his female followers emerged but he has never been convicted.
Now, another case of causing grievous bodily harm has been filed against the preacher by India’s Central Bureau of Investigation.
