APC Leadership Torn Apart Over Punishment For Saraki, Dogara

Must read

As the crisis within the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the recent actions of Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara deepens, reports have it that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party has been divided into two over sanctions to be meted out on the pair over alleged “anti-party” activity.

According to the report, some members of the party are kicking against sanctions while others are calling for the heads of the pair.

It was gathered that those calling for a soft approach opined that if the issue was handled otherwise, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would capitalise on it and woo the erring duo, along with their supporters.

On the other hand, other members of the NWC are calling for heavy sanctions, saying that if the pair were not punished, others would take it as a norm and flout party directives.

A top member of the party leadership who preferred to stay anonymous said:  “As of now, we have not reached a consensus on what is going on in the National Assembly.

“Some believe that taking a harsh stand will send the affected lawmakers away, while others are saying that they should not go unpunished.”
