Army Chief Buratai Launches Entrepreneurial Skills Development Programme

The Entrepreneur Skills Acquisition Centre inaugurated by the chief of Army staff, Tukur Buratai, at the Gibson Jalo 23rd Armoured Brigade in Yola, Adamawa State, on Monday, January 6, 2020, commenced training of 53 beneficiaries in various crafts.

Buratai, who was represented by the brigade commander of the army formation, Brigadier General, S. G. Mohammed, during the start of training, disclosed that one of the wives of the soldiers, who was a facilitator at the centre, had been given the contract for making sweaters to be worn by men of the Nigerian military.

Mohammed said the sweater knitting contract award was made by Buratai during the presentation of starter packs to beneficiaries that included wives and children of soldiers shortly before he declared the centre open for training.

He said Buratai gave Helen Aci the contract during his recent visit to the cantonment where he also declared open the entrepreneurial and skills acquisition centre at the command.

He said, “If you recall during the inspection visit by chief of Army staff, Tukur Buratai, he saw some sweaters knitted by one woman in the barracks.

“The COAS became interested in the brilliant work and awarded her a contract to produce 1,000 sweaters popularly known as pullover to Nigeria Army as samples.

“As I speak to you now, the woman has started producing three different types of sweaters which we are going to forward to the army headquarters.”
