The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that the Bayelsa governorship rerun election in Southern Ijaw LGA will take place on January 9, 2016.
The electoral body declared the December 5 state governorship election inconclusive after cancelling the votes in Southern Ijaw following cases of violence and election irregularities.
From the results collated so far, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and incumbent governor, Seriake Dickson is in the lead. The next contender is former governor Timpre Sylva of All Progressives Congress.
