Boko Haram Are Not Nigerians – Lai Mohammed Contradicts President Buhari

Must read

Nigeria’s minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, on Friday, December 11, 2015, said that members of the Boko Haram sect are not Nigerians but a group of mad people who are neither Christians nor Muslims.

The minister made this declaration at a one day seminar on: “Do The Right Thing: close the security gaps,” organised by the National Orientation Agency (NOA), in Abuja.

He added that no true Nigerian would “have the mind to inflict the kind of damage on the country as the Boko Haram had done”, Leadership reports.

Mohammed went on to say that members of Boko Haram are “mad people” and neither Muslims nor Christians.

This declaration is a new position for the Federal Government. Earlier in the year, President Muhammadu Buhari declared that members of the world’s most deadly terrorist organisation are his “misguided brothers”.

Before becoming President, Buhari had ralied against the President Jonathan administration’s fight against Boko Haram. The former military dictator cautioned against killing members of the terrorist organisation and even declared that an “attack on Boko Haram is an attack on the North”.
