BOMBSHELL: ‘Aisha Buhari, Garba Shehu Got $22.8 Million From CBN, Sold In Black Market’ [TWEETS]

Must read

Nigeria’s main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the first lady of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari of involvement in round tripping.

In a series of tweets on Saturday, March 26, 2016, the PDP exposed what could be the biggest scandal to rock the Presidency since Muhammadu Buhari was sworn into office on May 29, 2015.

According to the party, Mrs. Aisha Buhari got $22 million allocated to her by the Central Bank of Nigeria at official rates and she made a killing by turning around to resell it in the black market on the same day at N340 per dollar. The official rate for the sale of dollars by the CBN is N197 per dollar.

The political party alleges that the Central Bank governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele approved a discounted rate for the first lady who says she wishes to be referred to as the wife of the President. However, she runs an official office in the Presidency, has a routine of staff, and is assigned one presidential jet for her travels, pretty much retaining the perks of the office of a first lady.

Mentioned also in the scandal is Garba Shehu, a spokesman for President Buhari. He is alleged to have received $800,000 at a discounted rate of N185 per dollar and sold it at N350 per day.

The allegations are made with the #CorruptionAndBuhari hashtag which is now trending on Twitter Nigeria.

Garba Shehu is also accused of obtaining a choice land allocation from the minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

The PDP also revealed that President Buhari has withdrawn $23 million for his numerous foreign trips in the space of 7 months.

In a swift reaction, Aisha Buhari has taken to Twitter to say she is not a ‘dealer of forex’ and warned the PDP threatening that she would take legal action the next time she is mentioned in a scandal by the party. Leaving one wondering why she doesn’t seek legal redress now.

Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu has also taken to Twitter, blowing hot, he accused the PDP of lying against him in a series of Tweets in which he admitted obtaining $8,000 from the Central Bank and not $800,000 as alleged.

He also took to insults by calling the person behind the PDP social media handle of being a “coward and psychopath” and threatening to sue the person.

But, why doesn’t he sue the party that owns the Twitter handle, that is, if he has a case.
