Niger Delta Avengers Blows Up 2 Oil Pipelines In Bayelsa

The Niger Delta Avengers has claimed responsibility for attacks on two of oil installations in Bayelsa State. According to the emerging militant group, the attacks occurred around 2am on Thursday, June 1, 2016.

The Niger Delta Avengers used its Twitter account to say that this latest attack is part of its aim of reducing Nigeria’s oil production to zero.

“At about 2:00am today, @NDAvengers blew up the Ogboinbiri to Tebidaba and Clough Creek to Tebidaba Crude Oil pipelines in Bayelsa State.” the militant group disclosed.

“This is inline with our promise to all international oil companies and indigenous oil companies that Nigeria oil production will be zero,” the group tweeted.

Who are the Niger Delta Avengers

Niger Delta Avengers is a new militancy group that is operating in the oil-rich region of Southern Nigeria.

The militants say they are waging a war for a free Niger Delta Republic in what it tags, Operation Red Economy, with a view of halting crude oil production in Nigeria to force the government to grant the group’s demands.

The Niger Delta Avengers has presented an 11-point demand to President Muhammadu Buhari and the first is the implementation of the recommendations of the 2014 National Conference. [Download Conference report HERE.]
