Asari Dokubo, a former Niger Delta militant, has issued a statement in reaction to the news of the week, the revelations of the N25 billion contract fraud at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.

In a view released on Friday, October 13, 2017, Dokubo slammed President Muhammadu Buhari on this revelation of what could be the biggest corruption scandal in the history of the country. Addressing the president, the ex-militant leader said that “the pit that you dug for Goodluck is now the pit, you are falling into”.

He also declared Vice President Yemi Osinbajo guilty of lying to Nigerians and colluding to cover up this monumental fraud. This is in reference to new revelations that Buhari approved N640 billion worth of oil contracts from his sickbed in London, bypassing the acting president.

In a statement, last week, signed by Laolu Akande, a spokesperson to Professor Osinbajo, the vice president admitted that he approved some contracts for the NNPC but later clarified that it was loan agreements he approved not oil contracts.

In the video, the former militant leader, said that Osinbajo “has a Ph.D. in lying’.

In between Asari Dokubo remarks, he expressed disappointment at former petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, a personality, he often references as “not doing well” in terms of empowerment for people of the Niger Delta during her tenure.

He also turned his sights on Ibe Kachikwu, the minister of state for petroleum, who revealed this fraud and sectionalism from the NNPC group managing director in a memo to Buhari. He said that Dr. Kachikwu ought to have resigned instead of endure humiliation at the hands of his subordinate.
