Buhari’s Delayed Ministerial List Shows The Gov’t Was Not Prepared For Governance – Lawson

Must read

The spokesperson of the Movement for the Actualisation of Egalitarian Society (MAES), Mr. Femi Lawson has given President Muhammadu Buhari heavy knocks for creating unnecessary suspense and tension over the nomination of ministers.

Speaking at a press conference on the President Buhari’s ministerial list at 1st Forty Hotel, Abuja on Thursday, Mr Lawson said the list release by the President was not worth the long wait.

“To us as a movement it shows the government was not prepared for the task of governance, and the delay was just a ploy to buy time.

“Most of those on the ministerial list of President Buhari, especially the former governors are people who either have issues of accountability or are being investigated by the various anti-corruption agencies. Are we saying this is the best that an administration whose mantra is anti-corruption and change can come up with after four months of wait?

“Like every other section of Nigerians, we received with great amusement, the list of names of Ministerial nominees submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari for the approval of the Nigerian Senate,” he added.

According to the national leader of the movement, Mr Idris Usman, the ministerial list released by President Muhammadu Buhari was too ordinary and laughable, saying compiling such a list should not taken him more than 24 hours.

“This latest development has reinforced our belief in the fact that no meaningful change can take place in Nigeria until the system is properly restructured. What Nigeria requires at this crucial moment is not a strong individual like President Buhari, but a strong will to ensure that credibility is put above familiarity.

“We demand that President implement the report of the 2014 National Confab without further delay, ” Usman added.

Also speaking at the press conference, Mr Morgan Omodu, who also a leader of the movement, called on the leadership of the National Assembly to show genuine commitment to the Nigeria project by screening the ministerial nominees to ensure they are truly qualified.
