‘Climb Mountain, Then Fall And Die’: El Rufai In Unbridled Outburst Over Critics

Must read

Kaduna State Governor, Mallam  Nasir  El-Rufai, Friday, October 16, 2015 flew into an unbridled rage in the face of criticism over his “lopsided”political appointments, Vanguard reports.

According to eye-witnesses, El-Rufai lost his temper and was visibly “vibrating”  as he dismissed allegations of nepotism and said he couldn’t appoint people who did not vote for him during the elections that brought him to office.

The outburst occurred at a town hall meeting between El Rufai and the stakeholders of Kaduna Central also known as Zone 2. The governor reportedly needed his tirade by saying that anybody who was unhappy with his appointments could go ahead and commit suicide in a horribly painful fashion.

El Rufai had come under severe criticism from Kaduna citizens for appointing his close friends into his cabinet and as his close aides, even when they were not citizens of the state and appointing family members into coverted positions in the state.

Critics increased their attacks on the former Federal Capital Territory minister last week when El Rufai’s cousin, Hadiza Shamsudeen was nominated as the minister representing Kaduna by President Muhammadu Buhari.

“If you are not happy with appointments made, you can go and climb Kufena mountain,  fall and die,” the governor raged at the audience.

“It was what you voted that you got, because we are aware that there are people who did not vote for us, in fact they worked against us.

“But now they claim to be APC members and loyal to the party. We know such people. And so there is no way they would expect anything from us,” he declared.

Some weeks ago, El Rufai insulted Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in a meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari in Aso Rock, prompting Osinbajo to tell El Rufai off and walk out on the meeting. Following The Trent’s exclusive report, Aso Rock tried to refute the story with a open threat to our Executive Editor and our newspaper on the federal government’s official website.

A forthright ago, this altercation between the veepee and the governor was the subject of a high-powered emergency meeting of leadership their party, the All Progressive Congress (APC).
