Dino Melaye, a senator representing Kogi west, on Tuesday, raised the alarm over possible corruption in the management of the treasury single account (TSA).
Melaye said some “financial scavengers and economic cankerworms” were trying to sabotage the anti-corruption war of President Muhammadu Buhari by mismanaging the TSA.
Melaye asked the senate to give him an opportunity to present a motion on the matter on Wednesday.
Senate president Bukola Saraki put the request to a voice vote, to which the “ayes” had it.
In July, Buhari had directed that all revenue due to the federal government or any of its agencies be paid into the treasury single account (TSA) or designated accounts maintained and operated in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
A circular issued to all ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) by the former head of the civil service of the federation, Danladi Kifasi had urged the MDAs to ensure strict compliance with the directive to avoid sanctions.
