EFCC Arraigns 3 In Counterfeit Dollars And Naira Criminal Ring

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned three persons in a Federal High Court, Yola, Adamawa State, on charges bordering on conspiracy and possessing counterfeit dollar and naira currency notes.

In a report by Sahara Reporters, the three persons, Salisu Adamu, Muhammed Hamma, and Muhammed Tukur have appeared before the trial judge, Justice B.B. Aliyu, on Thursday April 21, 2016.

The anti-corruption agency said the accused persons were allegedly found to be in possession of three hundred and sixty one pieces of 100 dollar notes and ninety nine pieces of counterfeit naira notes in N1000 denomination.

According to Sahara Reporters, the accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them by the EFCC.

In view of the plea of the accused persons, the prosecution counsel, A.Y Muntaka asked for a trial date and prayed the court to remand the accused persons in prison custody while the defense counsel Augustine Sambo did not oppose.

Justice Aliyu adjourned the matter to 11, 12 and 13 May, 2016 for trial, while the accused persons were remanded in prison custody.
