Ex-Girlfriend Arrested After Threatening Sportsman With Revenge Porn

Must read

The ex-partner of Penrith Panthers player Bryce Cartwright has targeted the NRL star with a “revenge porn” attack online.

Brittany Hura, who was reportedly in a relationship with Cartwright for six years, allegedly posted photos and screenshots of explicit text messages on social media, ridiculing and seemingly threatening to kill the 22-year-old, according to The Daily Telegraph.

She posted photos of Cartwright naked and in one post complained that he “can’t pleasure a girl”.

“You think I’m laughing because I’m mentally f***ed up?” she said in a video posted under the name Brinneyy Hura.

“I’m not mentally f***ed up, I’m just laughing at you … you’re going to be dead soon.

“In the grave … six feet under … you don’t even know what’s coming at you.

“You can’t even pleasure a girl … all you have to do is throw money at them. Bro you’re gone … chick chick pew.”

The Daily Telegraph later confirmed she had been charged for her threatening video. Brittany Hura was arrested and taken to Parramatta Police Station this afternoon and was charged with “carriage service to menace/harass or offend and stalk/intimidation with the intent to fear physical harm”.

Speaking on Triple M’s Summer Grill on Tuesday morning, former Panthers centre Ryan Girdler said the incident was a reminder to all athletes about the need to be wary when you’re in the public eye.

“A woman scorned,” Girdler said. “It’s a bit of a lesson isn’t it for the young guys coming through.

“If you’re in the public domain, you’re sort of public property in a sense and if you’re in a long-term relationship and you think you’re possibly never going to break up, you just need to be careful with what you do, because it’s news.

“The fact we’re talking about it today and it’s in the paper means people are interested and you need to be careful with social media and Facebook and what you do in your private time.”

“I don’t understand the obsession with getting your phone out and taking photos of yourself with no clothes on, I really don’t understand it,” co-host Emma Freedman added.

Hura’s social media accounts have since been deactivated and the video where she threatened to kill Cartwright has been deleted.

Cartwright and Brittany Hura allegedly split because of the presence of another woman.

Hura uploaded a photo on Sunday with “RIP” tattooed on her back below a tattoo of “Bryce”. Penrith has made the NRL Integrity Unit aware of the incident.

“The NRL Integrity Unit is aware of online activity relating to Bryce Cartwright and has asked the Penrith Panthers for further information,” an NRL spokesman was quoted as saying by Fairfax Media.

Cartwright’s manager Allan Gainey told The Daily Telegraph Hura was just acting out as a “jilted lover”.

“This is nothing more than a jilted lover,” Gainey said. “I understand her Facebook has been shut down and I know she has been warned multiple times … She is very troubled.”
