EXCLUSIVE: INEC Collation Officer Linked With Amaechi Arrested With $100,000 Cash (PICTURED)

Must read

The Trent can confirm that the officer of the the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mrs. Ekwi Adebisa, who was arrested by detectives of the Nigeria Police Force for colluding with Rotimi Amaechi, Nigeria’s minister for Transport, in the plot to rig the Rivers rerun elections has been released on bail on the orders of the Inspector General of Police.

News of Mrs. Adebisa’s arrest went viral on Sunday after The Trent reported that she was contracted by Amaechi, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to help in rigging the Rivers rerun elections of Saturday, March 18, 2016.

Our investigations have revealed shocking new facts on the electoral fraud which has rocked the nation’s democracy. Multiple sources confirm to The Trent that when Mrs. Adebisa was arrested at Novotel Hotel, detectives found $100,000 (one hundred thousand US dollars) cash in her possession. Upon interrogation, she confessed that the money was given to her in “appreciation” for her job.

According to a top security source, who spoke with The Trent, the detectives sought to know what job she was being appreciated for. She confessed it was related to the Rivers rerun elections of Saturday. When the police told her that she could not be “appreciated” for a job she had not delivered as the elections was still on-going, Mrs. Adebisa changed her story and said that the $100,000 (N32 million Naira) was meant for the “welfare for security operatives” working during the elections.

“But, there is a problem with that [her] story. INEC officials have no business, whatsoever, with the welfare of security operatives during elections,” our source, who pleaded anonymity because he is not authorised to speak on the matter, maintained. “Clearly, the money was a bribe paid to the woman [Mrs. Ekwi Adebisa] to doctor the results of the elections and it’s unfortunate. That is all I can say.”

Caught In The Act, Rotimi Amaechi To The Rescue

Adebisa was caught by vigilant voters with fake result sheets as she was making an attempt to switch the original results sheets at Ward 10 result collation centre in Port Harcourt Local Government Area where she was serving as the presiding officer.

The voters raised an alarm when they sighted her with fake result sheets and prevented her from changing the result sheets.

Apparently, she put a distress call through to Rotimi Amaechi who stormed the collation centre with over 100 soldiers and abducted Mrs. Adebisa from the collation centre at Ward 10 in Port Harcourt. Her abduction suspended the collation of results at the ward.

According to an inside source who spoke with The Trent, the INEC officer was taken to Novotel Hotel where Amaechi and Dakuku Peterside, the director general of NIMASA, and Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, the managing director of the NDDC were lodged and the plot to doctor the election results for the Ward was perfected.

But, unfortunately for Amaechi, the voters had lodged a complaint with the police over the matter and the police trailed the INEC officer to Novotel Hotel where she was arrested by the Nigerian Police and taken to Mile 1 Police Station in Port Harcourt.

Leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) including the Governor, Nyesom Wike got wind of the arrest of the compromised INEC officer and visited the police station for explanations.

Immediately, Governor Wike and PDP leaders arrived at the police station, more than 400 soldiers stormed the station in the company of the minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, Dakuku Peterside, and Ibim Semenitari and ordered the police to release Mrs. Ekwi Adebisa to them.

The police resisted the order and Mrs. Adebisa, now a suspect of electoral fraud, was transferred to the Force CID Headquarters of Rivers State for further investigation.

She was accompanied by Rotimi Amaechi, Ibim Semenitari, and Dakuku Peterside as detectives led her out of the Mile 1 Police Station to the Force CID Headquarters where she was not detained, but swiftly released on bail on the orders of the Inspector General of Police, our source revealed.

Adebisa was told to report to the CID Headquarters on Thursday, March 24, 2016.

As Amaechi was leaving the police station, the crowd of voters who had gathered at the police station began to chant, “Thief! Thief!”, “Armed robber!” has his security aides shielded him and he rushed into his waiting SUV and sped off. Watch the footage below:

Significance Of Ward 10

According to citizen reporters at the ward, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mrs. Blessing Asiegbe for the House of Representatives seat had won the election overwhelmingly. However, Rotimi Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State and chieftain of the APC swore to steal her victory by all means because of a long-standing standoff with her late husband. Mr. Asiegbu.

Mrs. Asiegbu has openly accused Rotimi Amaechi of killing her late husband during his tenure as governor of Rivers leading to a bitter rivalry between she and Amaechi.
