The 30,000 capacity Olympic International Stadium is set to be commissioned today, November 7, 2014 in the capital city of Uyo.
The state governor, Dr. Godswill Akpabio will be hosting the President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and Presidents of Ghana and Sierra Leone.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will be playing against the Black Stars of Ghana at 7pm after the ceremony which commences at 5pm.
The dress rehearsal for the event held on Thursday night, November 7, 2014 and The Trent was there to bring you exclusive photos.
Governor Godswill Akpabio and his cabinet were in attendance. The special guest for the evening was the former President of Ghana Jerry Rawlings.
Nigerian singers Kcee and Mish also performed Limpopo and Akwa Ibom Ayaya respectively while the dancers danced to the tunes.
Over 1,000 youths are participating in the opening ceremony. See photos in the slideshow below:
