FG Declares December 25, 26 And New Year’s Day Public Holidays

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Thursday 25th and Friday 26th December, 2014 as public holidays to mark Christmas and Boxing Day celebrations.

Similarly, Thursday 1st January, 2015 has been declared a public holiday to mark the New Year.

The Minister of Interior, Comrade Patrick Abba Moro, in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Moro enjoined all Christian faithful and Nigerians in general to extend the spiritual benefits of Christmas, which are love, peace, justice and kindness, to their daily living and through this contribute to the development of the nation.

He further urged Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for peace and unity across the country.

The minister wished all Nigerians a happy Christmas and prosperous New Year celebrations.
