Fire Razes India’s National Museum Of Natural History

The India’s National Museum of Natural History in New Delhi was on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 razed by a massive fire.

According to the officials, the fire started in the early hours of Tuesday, April 26, 2016 and escalated to all the seven floors of the building.

Delhi Fire Services official, Harinder Singh, said firemen and as many as 35 fire engines battled the blaze through the night.

He said the blaze was brought under control only after four hours but most of the exhibits were destroyed by then with about five of the fire-fighters injured and one in critical condition.

Delhi’s Natural History Museum is among the few museums focusing on natural history and environmental awareness in India.

Generations of Indian school children have visited the museum since it was set up in 1978.
