A sudden fire broke out at the Aminu Kano International Airport on Tuesday night, July 22, 2014. The fire started from a fuel tanker which was feeding a Turkish Airlines aircraft.

Fire service officials quickly averted what would have been a major tragedy.

The Istanbul bound flight, an Airbus 340, was cancelled leaving many passengers disappointed, some of whom had already arrived the airport to  embark on the journey.

The fuel tanker was completely burnt while the aircraft escaped with a little damage on its wing.

The Airbus 340 was saved by a sharp decision by officials to tow it away from the burning truck.
