Former Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke Released On Bail [TWEET]

Former petroleum minister, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke who was arrested today, October 2, 2015 by London police has been released on bail in London.

Alison-Madueke is expected to report to the Charing Cross Police Station, London, on Monday.

Alison-Madueke, 55, was first appointed minister by late President Musa Yar’Adua in July 2007. She first served as minister of Transport, then Mines and Steel Development in 2008 until April, 2010 when she was appoint minister of Petroleum Resources. She served under former President Goodluck Jonathan from 2010 to 2015.

According to reports, Alison-Madueke, who also became first female president of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in November 2014, was arrested along with four other people.

The other four people were not identified in the report, which says the arrests was concerning bribery and corruption investigations by the UK National Crime Agency. The agency released the tweet below and doesn’t provide any information on the identity of the persons who have been arrested or their nationalities.
