A French man from the city of Clermont-Ferrand has reportedly died of alcohol poisoning after knocking back 56 contestants in a drinking game, local media reports.
The incident took place on Saturday, October 25, 2014 in a bar, where challenged punters to take as many shot glasses of whisky, rum and other types of liquor as they could bear.
The 57-year-old victim’s took so much shots that he beat, not only his entire contestant, but also the local record. His feat, however, ended in tragedy a couple of hours later when he passed out.
He was rushed to hospital where he died on Sunday, October 26, 2014.
The public prosecutor has said that the police are investigating the death, including the role of his contestants and the bar manager, who could be charged for manslaughter for giving such dangerous quantities of alcohol for human consumption.

A game which started in 2014 on social media called NekNominate, is another dangerous platform which encourages excess drinking. People are challenged to “neck’’ or down a drink in one gulp, a game that has been linked to a handful of deaths from injury or alcohol poisoning in Britain and Ireland in 2014.
