The Nigeria Police have paraded the 54-year-old fiancé of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, officer who was killed and buried in a shallow grave in Benue state.

The deceased, Josephine Cynthia Inalegwu Onche, who was serving at an NSCDC post in the Otukpo, was declared missing a few days to her wedding to fiance, Christopher in December 2019.

She was last seen on December 20, 2019 when she was said to have gone to the market to buy some items in preparation for her wedding.

It was gathered that her body was exhumed from a shallow grave in a neighbouring local government to Otukpo ending of May, 2020.

Her fiance, Christopher was paraded on Wednesday, June 16, in Abuja alongside 35 other suspects arrested for armed robbery, kidnapping, rape, unlawful possession of prohibited firearms, cattle rustling, receiving of stolen items and car theft.

Briefing newsmen, the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, said late Onche,45, was in a relationship with Christopher, who had professed love and promised to marry her.

“In the course of the relationship, several financial transactions took place and it is believed that Onche had handed over a large chunk of money to her lover,” he stated.

“Between Dec. 19 and 20, 2019, Onche had visited her lover, who lured her to the house of a native doctor in Benue, where she was murdered. Her body was taken to a forest where she was buried in a shallow grave,” he said.

Mba said that the deceased’s fiancé had promised to pay the native doctor N5 million out of the N14 million he collected from Oche.

The PPRO said the decomposed body of Onche had been exhumed by the police for further investigation.
