The victim explained how she employed Aniefiok through an agent, Anthony Akpan, on Monday, March 30, 2015 after they reached an agreement to pay her N18, 000 monthly.

According to her, the suspect was well-behaved lady who was devoid of any evil trait.

Mrs Abiola placed so much confidence on Aniefiok until the fateful Monday, April 6, 2015 when she broke into her room and made away with gold jewellery, including a wedding band and engagement ring, wristwatches, shoes, clothing items, a phone and about N100,000 cash.

She said, “It is still unbelievable. I had contacted the agent that my family needed a maid. This was because me and my husband were working and we needed help around the house.

“I don’t know her family members, but since we know the agent, we thought we were safe.

“She even attended a night vigil at the Redemption Camp with us and we were there throughout the weekend.

“On Monday, April 6, which was a public holiday, we left her at home and went for an outing. We did not return until evening.

“That was when we saw that she was nowhere to be found and she had stolen our property.”

Mrs Abiola’s husband identified only as Segun, said the fleeing nanny also disappeared with the family’s foodstuffs.

He said, “Before we left the house, we took her to the market, where she bought vegetables and cow legs. She was to get them ready for my wife to prepare when we return.

“She also took all of them away. We never suspected anything. She was well-behaved and you might even mistake her for an angel.”

Policemen from the Ifako Police Division were informed about the incident and the agent was arrested and later released on bail following his promise to produce the suspect who is still at large.
