ABUJA, Nigeria — The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has restored its Central Admissions Processing System after a temporary disruption and directed tertiary institutions to accelerate admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session.
JAMB said on Monday, September 28, 2026, that CAPS was “fully restored and is now operational”, allowing universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other institutions to resume processing admissions.
The board retained its existing deadlines: October 31 for public universities, November 30 for private universities, and December 31 for other tertiary institutions.
“With CAPS back online, institutions are urged to accelerate their admission processes to recover lost time and meet the agreed admission deadlines,” JAMB said.
JAMB advised candidates to monitor their admission status and promptly accept offers made through CAPS.
The CAPS platform is JAMB’s central system for coordinating admissions into Nigerian tertiary institutions. It allows schools to process prospective students while enabling candidates to check and respond to admission offers.
Candidates who had been awaiting their 2026 National Examinations Council Senior School Certificate Examination results were also directed to upload or verify the results following their release.
JAMB said the step was necessary to ensure candidates’ credentials were available as institutions intensified admission processing.
The board apologised for the temporary interruption and thanked candidates, institutions, and other stakeholders for their patience.
The restoration leaves public universities with just over a month to complete admissions before their October 31 deadline, while private universities and other tertiary institutions have until the end of November and December, respectively.
