Kwara PDP Tells APC To Accept Defeat In #Ekiti2014 In Good Faith

Must read

It is with pleasure that the Kwara state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received the news of the victory of the PDP’s Ayodele Fayose over other contenders in the just concluded gubernatorial elections. The fact that Mr. Fayose, against all odds and against an intolerant incumbent, has weathered the storm of the Ekiti elections, is a welcome development.

This much awaited outcome is as much a soothing bam for the good people of Ekiti State as it is for Kwarans, who, for the reason of proximity with neighboring Ekiti, have been keeping vigil and rendering prayers for their brethrens in Ekiti.

To us in Kwara state, Mr. Ayo Fayose’s victory did not come as a surprise. Rather, it is considered a window to the crushing defeat that the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) will suffer across the country, and particularly in Kwara in the 2015 elections. Kwara has an even more peculiar case, considering the fact that the people are up against a do-nothing incumbent; an incumbent that is shamefully encumbered by a thieving political leadership, who sadly wants to perpetual itself against the wishes of the overwhelming majority of Kwarans.

However, the outcome of the Ekiti election has once again brought to the fore, the deceit that the APC symbolizes. It has lent credence to the age-long assertion that no matter how fast lies travel, truth shall ultimately catch up with it one day. Today, truth has caught up with the APC lying machine. This is because, in the build-up to the elections, Nigerians were regaled with all manners of lies and half-truth about the true state of things in Ekiti. They have forgotten that they could not place something on nothing and expect it to stand.

The Ekiti election is no doubt a narrative about a people and their resolve to dismantle a gigantic mountain of lies, untruths, half-truths that have been built around the APC, not only in Ekiti but all across the country. Ekiti has once again worked the talk, they have proven themselves to be people of integrity; the last thing you can accuse an Ekiti man and woman of is political docility.

We congratulate the people of Ekiti state for standing up for what is right in the face of political intimidation and tokenism, for standing up for the future of their children and their cherished state. We ask them to continue to stand guard for their votes till the very end, as desperate politicians are on the prowl to scuttle their loud wishes, by manipulating the results.

We congratulate Mr. Fayose in advance. We ask him to be magnanimous in victory. He should immediately set down for the onerous task of proper governance, which has sadly taken flight in the last four years in the life of the state.

We implore APC to take the outcome of the elections in good faith and move on with their lives. But if for any reason they feel aggrieved with the outcome, the party is urged not to turn the peaceful state into a theatre of war, but rather, they take advantage of the law and seek redress in a competent tribunal, if need be.

In conclusion, we congratulate the people of Kwara state, who have continued to keep faith in the PDP. We ask them to weary not as the day of redemption is near. Like Ekiti, we shall take back our pride too in Kwara!
